Philosophy
I-Change is all about making Change happen. We believe that this is a very practical discipline. Change isn't something that happens as a result of the latest trendy theory to be published in the Harvard Business Review, or due to the latest book written by some millionaire business guru (although, of course it could happen this way!) It usually comes about by doing certain basic things well and consistently. Things such as:-
- Strong, determined, sensitive, visionary leadership
- Know where you are going
- Know if you are on course for getting there
- Have a plan of how to do so. Check it often, and modify it if you need to.
- Communicate.. communicate.. communicate! This means listening as well as telling
- Manage fear; it is inevitable, both your own and everyone else's
- Install supportive systems
- Remove obstacles to change
- Support and praise good examples
- Resource it properly (if you can't add resources, then remove jobs that add no value)
Stop things as well as starting new initiatives - Remember why you are making the change and remind others
- Encourage and support people
- Be honest, with yourself and others
Do these things and you will probably be successful. Remember however, no matter how good you are, that if you are part of the system, then you must be part of the problem, as well as part of the solution. Bringing in neutral outsiders can add real value, because they change the chemistry of the system as well as adding additional (expert) resources.
