• Movement (going to a different place)

• New jobs

• Chemicals, both medicines, drugs and pollutants
• Books, music, art
• New tools / techniques
• Technology

• External events inc. natural (inc. disasters), economic ones
• Resources, either a shortage or a surfeit
• Exposure to different cultures & values
• Chance
