Stopping is a change too

For probably the first time in my life, I’ve stopped.  I don’t mean I’m a taking a holiday, or something like that, I mean stopped.  About a month back I had a little medical ‘episode’ and since then I have not been able to drive and things have ground to a halt.  It may have been a delayed reaction to Carys’ death.  So I decided that if the Universe required me stop, maybe I’d better take the hint. 

Like many business owners, even when I’m not working, I’m usually thinking about it, and there is a business angle to most of the things I do too.  As a homeowner there are always loads of jobs to be done, and as parent, well don’t talk to me about that!  Well, for the best part of a month now there has been none of this, and oddly, when I have made plans, as often or not, they have fallen through.

It is a very odd feeling, and seemingly, the more one does it, the less one wants to do.  It is a slightly strange and scary place and the world becomes a much smaller place.

Mostly Life doesn’t give us such obvious breaks and pauses, but they can be very important, in the same way as winter is a key season in the growing cycle, sometimes in order to change, we need to do nothing.  Mostly we resist this, or fill in these spaces.  Perhaps today might be a day for you to stop too….
